On Saturday, June 22, we transform the town square of Ham and its buildings into one big event dedicated to the chili pepper. Besides stallholders with spicy products from home and abroad, we also provide several food trucks to feed the hungry, and a covered terrace with live music to quench the thirsty. Of course we do not overlook the children, who can have fun on the bouncy castle, or with the giant games.
Competitions
The Belgian chili pepper eating championship, is a spectacle enjoyed by visitors. In this very tough competition, participants are served hotter and hotter chili peppers round after round, cheered up by the audience they try to push their limits and stay last. Apart from the trophy, the winner gets to call himself Belgian Pepper Eating Champion for a year.
The Extremely Hot HAMburger Challenge. As an Association situated in the municipality of Ham, Belgium, we organize during chillifair the extremely hot HAMburger competition. The concept is simple, each participant gets a burger, whoever finishes it first wins the contest and the coveted trophy. Make no mistake, however, this is no standard burger, but a bellowing hot burger sprung from the somewhat sadistic brain of the organization. Every year we ask ourselves as an organization, “Can it get any hotter?” Yes so it can! Come cheer on the brave candidates or step into the ring yourself if you dare. We challenge you!
The Belgian Hot Sauce awards. The Belgian Hot Sauce awards, were created to support the many chili sauce makers our little country has. Voting is done by festival visitors on anonymous sauces via a qr code. Any visitor with a smartphone can vote, and as an organization we encourage them to do so. Do it!
